First Post: What Makes Greece Such a Special Place?

Slightly high unemployment rate, lack of up to date infarstructure, a socialist economy with tons of limitations, are among a few reasons many critisize about living in Greece. For me, this is the most beautiful place in the world, and the negative aspects listed are such miniscule negatives, they are easily ignored by the positives. What makes Greece such a special place for me is in fact the run down inferstrucutre, beautiful beaches with graffiti covering the walls of the exterior fences, traditionally mindsetted adults with “rebellious” youth. To me, Greece has it all, loud, big cities like Athens, quiet and remote islands like Paros, countryside that can be reached 30 minutes driving distance from water. A rich history that dates for thousands of years, some of the most decorated artists, entertainment figures, businessmen hail from Greece, and much much more. To be happy here does not require much effort or thought, as it is all in front for you to enjoy. Personally, I gravitate towards the graffiti of Athen’s streets and vibrant beaches during the summer in Mykonos. It is not that I have not had the time to explore a place like Nantucket or Cape Cod, it is that those places are not of interest to me. I cannot relate to the culture of New England and truly enjoy what it has to offer, for me, I feel best suited in an environment such as Greece.

A few other interesting reasons why I love living on Greece

  • There is no need to worry. Despite all the adversity Greece has faced economically and socially through the World Wars and Civil War, Greeks are very calm as people. It is truly amazing to be able to live in such a calm and peaceful society.
  • The best food wherever you go. I mean, even the Greek version of Mcdonalds, Goody’s, far exceeds the above average American dining scene.
  • The most breathtaking scenery on planet earth. There are no better beaches in terms of sand, views, water cleanliness, and nightlife than in Greece.
  • People are very friendly towards each other and violence is not a concept. Here in Greece, violent crimes, rude people, cliqueness amongst social groups do not exist. We are all one here in Greece, everyone is friendly and open to each other. Acts of violence do not exist here, neither does crime (in general) either. It is safe in every aspect for one to enjoy.

I could write a multiple volume sized collection of books on why I believe Greece is the most wonderful place to live for me. In the blog, I am going to expose you as a reader to sights, destinations, stores, museums, art, music, and much more of why I firmly believe Greece speaks to me and my interests so well.

While most of what I will write about will be new to many of my readers both internationally and domestically, I am open to exploring new realms of what you as a reader wish for me to check out. Do not hesitate to leave comments as I have no problem writing about a new expieirence.

I could not be more excited to share with you my world. Every post will be crafted to give the most accurate and descriptive representation of what I have to share with you. Enjoy!
