Ble, a exquisite pastry shop and cafe located on Agias Sofias in Thessaloniki has drawn attention from many locals and worldwide customers. What makes Ble a unique pastry shop is their dedication to their craft: Ble has some very rare ingredients used in their products, attention to detail, and perhaps the best looking (and tasting) pastries I have had to date. The pastries created look like they were crafted for hours with pristine lines in the frosting, and other menu items offered, such as the ice cream, are very refreshing and delicious. Aside from their excellent cuisine, Ble is in an amazing location off the main street for shopping in the City of Thessaloniki, and always draws a great crowd at any time of the day.
As someone who has eaten at Ble countless times, what comes to my mind when I think of Ble is its versatility. Although not heavily advertised, Ble has a kitchen that serves meals such as veal and cous cous, famous Greek lemon chicken, Salmon and rice, amongst other fabulous options. Everything is made that day, so you will not be choosing from meals that have been sitting in the fridge for a week. Combining a top tier kitchen with the options of ordering pastries, coffee and tea, snacks (such as spinach pie, proscuitto sandwich, pizza), fresh bread baked every morning, and ice cream make Ble the most versatile pastry shop in the area. Their selection in each category is enormous, with at least 10 items to choose from in each selection (ice cream flavors, sandwiches, snacks, coffee and tea choices). The most difficult part of eating at Ble is always what you are going to eat, as the menu changes from season to season, and sometimes month to month. With so many excellent choices and constantly evolving menu, going to Ble multiple times is mandatory in order for one to get a taste everything for themselves.
The service is so kind and the modern interior is amazing. A high ceiling, glass display cases and windows, and friendly staff greet you at every corner. My favorite part of Ble’s interior is the color scheme that complements the modern interior theme. Grey and blue, with some black are the colors of the interior and exterior of the shop. The colors they chose go well with the glass and black floor of the interior. Glass windows that span from ground to about the shops ceiling allow people to look in (and out) of the store. Instead of putting traditional windows up, they elected for a solid glass window, that is not connected together, such as, it is one solid glass panel for the each side of the shop. They do not overdo the modern theme and make it too excentric, but it gives a hip, chic vibe to the interior and exterior. One would immediately notice Ble when walking by on the street just by its visuals.
Affordability and quantity. Not many high end pastry shops give such terrific service, food, and reasonable pricing than Ble. Their portions are on the larger side, as a slice of pizza and spinach pie are larger than what most pizza shops and bakerys’ make, except Ble offers them at higher quality. One does not need to break their bank to eat here, as it is slightly higher priced on average than other pastry shops by about one euro for each food or caffeine product. Yet it is the scene, quality, and exclusive ingrediants one pays for, so it makes up for the extra euro. I cannot say enough positive qualities about Ble as they really exceeded my expectations when I first ate there. I go frequently for just about anything they serve, from coffee, snacks, meals, ice cream, pastries, and even a fresh loaf of bread once. Being quite familiar with this establishment, it is safe to say you will have an amazing meal here too.
