Why You Should Try The Cretan Diet

With social media practically running people’s lives these days, it is hard not to equate importance of physical appearance into daily life. Many users of instagram, facebook, snapchat, and now TikTok obsess and tailor their lifestyles to look best on camera. Countless hours of cardio, weight lifting, makeup, etc… go into trying to look best for their craft, yet what if I told you there is an easier way to be as handsome and beautiful as these stars, without devoting your life to fitness. Here’s the secret; it’s the diet, specifically the Cretan Diet. What you eat is over 80% of your looks, so if you eat properly you eliminate all the time wasted doing cardio and such while continuing to eat your poor diet. If one follows the Cretan diet, they themselves will look like these beautiful stars without the effort.

How is this possible? What is the Cretan Diet? The Cretan diet is a diet where one eats mostly fruits and vegetables, but balances having more “enjoyable” foods in their diet such as carbs (which many love) and wine daily. Of course, you are to eat carbs and drink wine in moderation, but it is a manageable diet that does not cut out all the “bad” things many diets do. In fact, what makes the Cretan diet the best diet in the world is that it allows you to have these “bad” calories while having “good” calories, and achieves the same results. Also, people can sustain this diet due to the fact that it is easy to follow.

Cretan AKA “Medeterranean” Diet

As you can see, one is to have carbs, vegetables, fruits, and dairy daily, and consume meat weekly (twice a week is most commonly practiced). Red Meat monthly is hard to follow for some, but I promise once you follow this diet for a week or two you will lose most of your cravings for frequently consuming red meats, sugar, and salt foods and beverages.

So how does this diet make me better looking? Because you are mostly eating fruits and vegetables, you will become healthier and be in better shape. Everything else such as carbs and dairy contain the nutrients in order for survival, and can be consumed (in moderation) while still having a good looking, in shape body. These foods give one smoother skin, and often reduces oils released by your body. When people overdo on eating salt and sugar based items, they have very oil skin, so this diet scratches out that factor. Eating healthier will of course exempt you from being overweight or chubby, and of course the calorie restriction will leave you in good standing. If you are eating healthy and do not go over the calorie limit, one can achieve a lean, toned look that so many desire and that many of these social media stars have. Aside from the physical changes, eating healthier soothes your mind. Diets high in sugar, carbs, and salts lead to poor sleep, aggitation, and a more depressed mood. When in a state of a sad mood or when angry, people gravitate towards carbs, salts, and sugars, all high in calories and bad for your body when not eaten in moderation. Because people are inserting an insanely high amount of calories without thinking, it catches up to them. Foods high in carbs, salts, and sugars do not make you feel immediately full as does fruits, vegetables, and fish foods. So one can avoid the excess calories, sleep better, and feel fuller for longer when on the Cretan diet. So long story short, proper diet equates to better sleep, prevents overconsumption of calories, and better skin.

I use this diet and it works, and of course, is sustainable. Many people my age want to have a lean, toned body but do not nessecarily put the effort into the diet to change it. Those who do try to become toned, often find themselves doing hours of cardio and eventually cannot keep up with their school work and social lives. This is because they are constantly extercizing just to keep up wit their poor diet, and often maintain their weight, not lose it, as they are replacing the hours of gym and cardio daily with calories consumed through alcohol, pizza, cookies, etc…

I could not recommend this diet enough to others, and while I understand it is a drastic lifestyle change for many, it really is not as difficult as you think. You will become hooked on this diet as the results show quite quickly,. leaving you eager to continue with it. Some may not want to give up their poor diet, but if you are trying to get a nice body for the summer for your Greek vacation, try this diet. It will save you hours wasted in the gym + hours spent doing cardio, and you will not get as great of results than doing this.
