Summer is right around the corner, and many are yet to make their travel plans due to Europe being closed until further notice. Because Europe is slightly behind in their vaccination schedule does not mean they will not be welcoming tourists this summer. In fact, Greece opens up to tourists from the USA, Canada, UK, etc… beginning May 14th. That being said, Greece is a must visit for the upcoming summer of 2021. Because many will flood to Greece for their holiday, try visiting the following destinations in order to fully appreciate what Greece has to offer.
Milos. The island of Milos has drawn much attention due to the rocky beaches and unique landscape. Having first visited Milos as a kid, the Island is known for its Volcanic rock beaches and mellow social scene in the summers. There are a few towns that have bars and restaurants, but nothing as vibrant as an Island like Santorini or Mykonos. This is a perfect place to swim (the Aegean Sea is so refreshing in the summertime) and seeing the volcanic rock beaches will make your trip memorable. I am putting two pictures for you to see what I am talking about in Milos. I will admit this island does not have the long sandy beaches as Crete, Rhodes, Naxos, and like the coast of the mainland, but it is still worth a visit. Due to being less popular than tourists destinations like Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, etc… Milos is much more affordable.

Adding to the list of islands is Naxos. Another overlooked gem in the Aegean Sea, Naxos has a lot of life and things to do for your summer trip. The main town holds the port, which has ferries going to just about everywhere in Greece, and Naxos also has an airport as well. The bus system is very reliable and can take your everywhere on the island, and there are other options for transportation such as renting a scooter, car, or ATV. With mountains to climb, sandy beaches to sit at and go windsurfing, and a main town with a diverse variety of cuisines to pick from, Naxos might be the most underrated place in all of Greece. Having visited Naxos for years, I have eaten at amazing seafood restaurants, mexican restaurants, indian restaurants, and have had the opportunity to visit bars along the beautiful beach and in the main town. Naxos has it all, from watersports, beaches, clubs, outdoor movie theater’s, just writing about Naxos gets me excited. The island is large, so taking a week would not be a bad idea if you would like to experience everything Naxos has to offer. Again, this is another affordable destination, and attracts many Canadians and Germans in Particular (as I have noticed from my time there). Another perk of Naxos is its proximity to Paros, Mykonos, Crete, and the Mainland given it being a “midpoint” of Greece (in the middle of the space between Crete and the Mainland). Traveling and staying here is cheap, easy, and fun. Put Naxos on your list for this summer, you will not regret it.

Antiparos. Not Paros, but the little island sitting next to it, where Tom Hanks has his “dreamhouse” here, as well as some other A-list celebrities. The island is quite small, but there is a ferry that runs every 30 minutes back and forth from Paros, and is worth a night or two at most. The island has a cave, where you can climb down and see many interesting gems and rocks, which should take up a few hours of your day. After that, head to the quiet beaches or the little towns scattered throughout the island for a nice meal. Once your are done, take the ferry across to Paros or head to another island to explore.

With many more places I have in mind, I carved out a few different places for you to visit this summer. I am sure you will enjoy them just as much as anywhere you go in Greece, and each place offers something else unique and different than the other. Bye for now.
